A Relaxing Sunday

I have a bowling party and photo shoot next weekend, so my goal this weekend was to relax as much as possible. Of course, that naturally meant I spent a day truly taking down time. Not touching electronics and just doodling/talking/sleeping was amazing. This weekend’s weather has been fantastic. I think photosynthesis might have started kicking in with how relaxing it was to just sit back and let the sun soak into my skin. I then proceeded to my routine of knocking out various side projects.

Sometimes, you can overwhelm yourself for absolutely no reason. I decided to spend a few hours going through the madness that is my downloads folder. After downloading hundreds of graphic design elements, none of which I’ve actually used, I realized it was time for me to reassess the disk space I was using up. While I found a number of “maybe some day” reference files, there were just a handful I truly needed. I’m working on a pro bono wedding invitation, so I think that’s part of what put me in download maven mode.

I also knocked out the mature task of paying bills and getting taxes done. It was actually exciting since I’m getting a refund. It’ll be going back out for other bills, but it feels good because the leftover cash can be enjoyed. I’ve already added C2E2 & a YFE concert to next month’s schedule. About time I have some genuine, live entertainment to look forward to. I feel like I might have to switch over to a monthly pass soon now that I’m ending up downtown more outside of work.

The Sounding Board Graphic

Enough about my “woah is my busy life” moment. I really want to just take a moment and say how awesome 2015 is turning out to be. Three months in and the stress levels continue to drop. I’ve noticed my dry humor is showing more in this blog and offline. Could I be coming out of my shell more? I think I am. And…I think I like it.

I love sharing all sorts of work and marketing tips, but it’s just as important to celebrate the moments of simple joy. If you aren’t appreciating this time, none of the hours you clock are worth it. Today’s sounding board won’t include any links. Just this simple reminder.
