Foldio 2 Review: Initial Thoughts

If you watched the video above, you now know how the assembly works for the Foldio 2. I just wanted to expand a bit more on how it’s working a few more days into regular use. If you’re interested in purchasing your own, you can buy it from Photojojo here.

I’ve wanted to up my photo game (along with videography) for a while and wanted a price-conscious solution. Photojojo always has unique products, so when I saw the Foldio in a recent newsletter, I knew I had to try it.

The foldable studio has convenient packaging that makes taking it out on the go a very easy task. I love that I can also adjust the lighting easily and it comes with four including background colors (white, gray, black and green). The lights just consist of two LED strips attached by an adhesive on the back, so it’ll be easy to replace as needed. In addition, the base material reminds me of the C&C cages (small pet owners will be very familiar with this).

Another way I’ve used it is for my videos. Since I still have a few more months to go at the current apartment, I’ve had to use more artificial lighting. Combining this with the lights in my room, I’ve been able to get better raw quality. It doesn’t replace the full setup I’m working on but definitely buys me some time.

For $75, I think it was a worthwhile purchase. It’s already proven to have a variety of uses and I love how much clearer my photographs are turning out.
